Flight Fins of Mansfield awarded patent; Haring Realty has new agent

Flight Fins of Mansfield has been assigned a patent developed by two co-inventors for a "foot lift attachments for skateboards and combinations thereof." The co-inventors are Orie Rush of Mansfield and Michael Woolson of Los Angeles.

According to the patent application, the invention relates generally to skateboards and skateboard attachments and, more particularly, to foot lift attachments for attachment to motorized electric skateboards that enable a rider to lift the board off the ground with their feet and perform freestyle skateboarding maneuvers and aerial moves and jumps.

Jim Hairston is the most recent addition to the Haring Realty team. Hairston serves as treasurer for the City of Ontario and was involved with the Area Agency on Aging as CFO.

Born in Mansfield, he grew up near Akron. He worked at Tappan after graduating from Rio Grande University with a degree in accounting and holds a master's degree from Ashland University.

Hairston has served on multiple boards such as Richland Pregnancy Services and Ontario Youth Sports and has coached several sports at local schools. Prior to being elected treasurer of Ontario, he served a term on Ontario City Council.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing has Ohioans can apply to be a new real estate salesperson online. The new service becomes available as the Division handled more than 7,000 new license applications in 2021, a 37% increase from 2019.

There were 51,064 licensed real estate professionals for the fiscal year of 2022. Home sellers and buyers are encouraged to use the Division’s License Lookup to validate they are working with a licensed real estate agent.

Additionally, agents are able to transfer from one broker to another online.

NEW LONDON — Over 110 co-op member-consumers and employees of Firelands Electric attended a legislative update at the 2022 ACRE Co-op Owners for Political Action recognition breakfast Sept. 12 at Firelands Electric Cooperative’s facility in New London.

Local and state government officials representing portions of Firelands Electric’s four-county service territory attended the event. Invited guests were updated on legislative issues affecting electric cooperatives and local communities and were able to participate in a question-and-answer legislative forum. Topics included local supply chain issues; increasing costs affecting the cost of electricity; reliability of the electric generation and distribution grid; and the overall workforce challenges faced across the Buckeye State.

State Rep. Marilyn John addressed the crowd on growing employment staffing issues, the importance of work force development, and improving education. John serves on families, aging and human service committees. John said she is working on a bill that can lessen some of the stringent requirements affecting many occupational licenses that are resulting in worker shortages.

Other lawmakers addressing the gathering were Ohio Reps. Darrell Kick, Dick Stein, D.J. Swearingen, and a representative of U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs.

COLUMBUS — Gov. Mike DeWine announced a partnership between fellow governors in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin to collaborate on developing a robust hydrogen market, supply chain, and workforce across the Midwest by signing the Midwest Hydrogen Coalition Memorandum of Understanding (M-H2 Coalition MOU).The M-H2 Coalition MOU will support advancing hydrogen production in the region, with little to no greenhouse gas emissions, while leveraging participating states’ unique assets. Developing a strong Midwest hydrogen market ecosystem that reduces pollution, enhances energy security and improves public health outcomes will enable existing industries to remain globally competitive and encourage new industries to build and grow in the Midwest.

Ohio will use its advanced manufacturing, engineering, and research and development expertise to help promote diverse hydrogen production pathways throughout the Midwest region.

Utilities named Most Trusted Brands are selected based on Brand Trust Index scores that performed at the top of the industry, achieved top score within their respective segment or had a Brand Trust Index score within 20 points above the industry average.
