Today, Australian industrial icons Kollaps unveil the latest track from their forthcoming album Until The Day I Die, out via Cold Spring Records on June 24. Feast your ears on “The Hand of Death.”

“‘The Hand of Death’ was one of the earlier tracks written for the record,” says  Wade Black, the mastermind behind the project. “During the writing process, I wanted to express ideas of love degenerating into a septic, oppressive state, and so I aimed for militaristic and authoritative sounds, mainly in the percussion; however, these ideas are also explored lyrically.”

The track plods on at a steady yet aggressive pace, beginning and ending with percussive sounds and featuring aggressive, shrieking, post-industrial vocals.

According to Black, a wide variety of metals and raw materials were used in the creation of the album including metal grates, a rusted hoist, cement cylinders, field recordings, hammering of various decrepit objects, broken amplifiers, an exposed reverb tank, various synthesizers, and the infamous metal coil: a crudely self-constructed artifice that has become iconic in their music. Much of the lyrical content of the record was done using William S. Burroughs’ cut-up method.
